Counseling for Weight Loss

As a psychotherapist and a registered dietitian, I can help you make the changes that will allow you to feel safe in how you are eating while we explore the emotions surrounding your use of food and/or dieting as a coping mechanism. We will look at the practical aspect of changing your eating habits. We will also explore and work with any of the blocks getting in your way of making changes in your lifestyle. Your relationship with food will be explored as well as your relationship with yourself and others. All are necessary for achieving weight loss. In the ironic way of the universe, weight loss is never about the weight. The more you diet, the harder it becomes to achieve and maintain weight loss. Once you explore and change your relationship with food and the critical feelings and beliefs you hold about yourself you will lose weight. This is not a quick approach to weight loss but ask yourself, how has the quick approach worked for you? If you are tired of constantly dieting to no avail and are ready for true change, give me a call.

Through a combination of Internal Family Systems therapy and a gradual change to an intuitive eating approach you will be able to overcome any blocks you might hold toward achieving an ideal weight. Even better you will be able to trust yourself around food. Imagine a peaceful mind without the inner turmoil surrounding what to eat or how much to eat. Silence the inner critic who always has something to say about what you eat or how you look. With an Internal Family System approach the start to finding peace and balance around food is a phone call away.

Services offered include individual counseling and group counseling for weight loss, diet recovery, and disordered eating.
